A furia di leggere letteratura di consumo, ogni tanto ci si dimentica cosa vuol dire un libro scritto proprio bene. Nonostante sia stato steso in una lingua acquisita dall’autore, e nonostante la traduzione (peraltro ottima, di Giulia Arborio Mella), la lettura di Lolita è innanzitutto un piacere estetico letterario, per il gusto dell’invenzione, della danza delle parole, di un barocchismo studiato con un’attenzione che evita con grazia di cadere nel ridicolo. E poi il tono ironico, il modo leggero in cui vengono trattati gli abissi della perversione è da un lato disturbante, ma dall’altro è difficile pensare un modo diverso per farlo. Libro indispensabile.

Il commento Il miglior film di Miyazaki, senza un singolo difetto (forse solo qualche traccia di brutta CG) e sbalorditivo da ogni punto di vista. Se non che a me trafigge meno il cuore di altri film di Hayao.

Il commento Da antico ammiratore del romanzo di Buzzati, ho trovato la parabola morale meno convincente e meno favolosa di come la ricordavo, ma alcuni passaggi tecnici, il design e soprattutto l’uso delle ombre sono splendidi.

Non so quanto voi sappiate dei funghi. Io ho scoperto che non sapevo pressoché nulla, e ho imparato davvero un sacco di cose su questo mondo, su quanto sia importante per l’ambiente, quante risorse e intelligenza abbiano i nostri amici cappelluti e non, e che risorse siano per risolvere un sacco di problemi. E’ stato davvero affascinante. Quello per cui non consiglio il libro a testa bassa è il fatto che non è scritto molto bene, spesso si ripete, procede in modo disordinato e inizia in medias res senza prendersi manco mezzo paragrafo su anatomia, fisiologia e ciclo di vita dei funghi, cosa che lascia un po’ spiazzati per chi arriva impreparato. Se però siete a digiuni di licheni, tartufi, funghetti magici e wood wide web vi si aprirà un mondo.

Il commento Film dominato da Frances McDormand, tenera e dura come solo lei sa essere, è un affascinante semi-documentario. Non credo verrà ricordato a lungo, però impossibile non affezionarsi a questi strambi camperisti.
