Il commento Eh, dire che non è il miglior film di Carpenter probabilmente è gentile. A tratti pare una versione un po’ sfigata di Preacher nel suo essere una specie di western coi vampiri, i dialoghi sono quasi sempre scadenti e il tocco del regista si vede raramente. Si salva perché è tutto sommato abbastanza intrattenente e per una Sheryl Finn bravissima, un paio di spanne sopra gli altri attori. Forse il rapporto tra il suo personaggio e il vice del protagonista è la cosa migliore del film.

Il commento In un’adorabile stop-motion, la storia di una famigliola mamma, figlia e fratellino che si ritrova sul lastrico e scopre le difficoltà della vita. Meno banale di quanto queste parole possano dire, perché parla anche di integrazione, di politiche sociali, di depressione, di mancanza di case popolari, ma per dare uno spunto in più al film Olivia, la ragazzina in questione, ha sensazione di un terremoto nei momenti di maggiore difficoltà, e usa il trucchetto di “è solo un film in cui siamo gli attori” col fratellino, cosa che richiede davvero molta sospensione dell’incredulità. Anche se personalmente ritengo che non ci fosse bisogno di queste parti, ho trovato il film comunque delizioso, una bella sorpresa.

Il commento Mi è capitato pochissime volte di uscire dalla sala al cinema, ma questo film, pur avendo alcuni innegabili colpi di genio (tra cui sottotitoli volutamente diversi dal parlato!) è una sequenza di cut out in stile Terry Gilliam, dadaista, senza senso nè filo logico, e dopo 40’ direi che può anche andar bene così. Sarebbe stato un gran bel cortometraggio.

Il commento La biografia di Pagnol, signore che non avevo mai sentito nominare, è abbastanza regolare, a parte il piccolo gimmick della proiezione del giovane Marcel che influenza la vita del personaggio; tuttavia è molto ben disegnata e girata: Chomet è sempre un maestro. Ha l’indubbio merito di dare un ritratto vivace della Francia tra il 1920 e il dopoguerra, ma forse a causa della mancanza di conoscenza del personaggio e un’eccessiva “francesità” non mi ha colpito moltissimo.

Il commento Film sardo che fa uno strano uso del rotoscopio, riducendo quasi a zero il framerate e procudendo immagini statiche, scattose, in un bianco e nero quasi espressionista. Il problema è che la narrazione è molto frammentata e si stenta a capire chi fa cosa e perché. Rimane comunque un esperimento non fallito.

Il commento Il mondo è un posto complicato, ma per fortuna c’è Félix che ha capito tutto e ha ritenuto che fosse una buona idea spiegarcelo in un sermone interminabile, per di più neanche realizzato molto bene e…col montaggio analogico! Bah.

Il commento Di per sè la storia di un giapponese emigrato in Brasile prima della seconda guerra mondiale può essere interessante, ma il problema del film è che non fa nulla per dare un po’ di sprint a una storia come tante, sia dal punto di vista narrativo che da quello visivo. Il film non annoia, ma è davvero molto piatto.

Il commento Uno shojo coreano ambientato in una Pyongyang gelida, buia e nevosa. Anche se c’è una tenera storia d’amore al centro della narrazione, quello che colpisce è l’atmosfera paranoica e la parte spionistica, un po’ guerra fredda e un po’ addirittura 1984. Non un capolavoro, ma certamente un buon film.

Il commento Piccole storie dal Canada profondo, quello dei nativi, povero e fangoso, in uno stile volutamente ributtante, che stanca però molto presto, e le storie sono quasi tutte poco interessanti, confuse e mal narrate. Si salva solo questo focus su qualcosa di poco noto, in mezo alla noia e lo squallore.

Il commento Storia di una giovane palentologa nel XIX secolo, è un film che non si inventa niente di trano ma fa le cose nel modo giusto, con dolcezza, un pizzico di dramma, avventura e un inevitabile lieto fine meritato. Lo stile accoglie la lezione di Tomm Moore, ma non si pensi di trovare la stessa ricerca registica e visuale.
