Il commento Delizioso film giovanile di Waititi, in pieno stile Sundance, fatto con pochi soldi, ovviamente in Nuova Zelanda. Si tratta di un film tenerissimo, in cui gli awww si sprecano e in cui i gesti contano tantissimo, che parla di disadattati e di dare una chance anche a chi sembra proprio non meritarla. Un gioiellino.

Il commento Horror irlandese che se la prende con molta calma, forse un po’ troppa all’inizio, ma ha delle grandi idee, bei colpi di scena, riesce a far paura e finisce anche per mescolare un po’ i generi. Forse risulta leggermente sfilacciato (anche per l’intruduzione faticosa) ma è uno degli horror più interessanti degli ultimi tempi.

Il commento Sembra facile fare un film che è una fiaba ben realizzata, ironica e leggera al punto giusto, con avventure, personaggi memorabili, grandi amori e grandi imprese, ma evidentemente non lo è, tanto che questo film del 1987 è ancora un gioiello insuperato. Una visione piacevolissima.

Il commento Una piccola odissea di una ragazza di oggi nella East Coast diventa un’occasione per mostrare alcuni aspetti della modernità, alcuni underground, altri mainstream, quasi sempre assurdi (per quanto reali: pizzagate!). La protagonista è un’insopportabile viziata, sarcastica e bugiarda patologica: non son riuscito a capire se la scelta di avere una protagonista odiosa sia voluta o meno. Io tendo a pensare di no, e tutto il film ne risente, risultando “artsy” nel senso più sbagliato. E alla fine, è anche noiosetto.

Il commento Mi aspettavo di più da questo horror coreano focalizzato sulle tradizioni locali. Se la prende con molta calma, non fa mai paura, fallisce nel costruire bei personaggi e mi è parso anche un po’ confuso. Di buono ci sono i riferimenti all’occupazione giapponese, una cosa che si vede raramente, e che a tratti ho ritrovato quelle atmosfere e quell’approccio al sovrannaturale di quel capolavorone di Ushio e Tora. Ma allora preferisco rileggermi il manga.

Il commento Piccola sorpresa questo film di fantasmi (più o meno), non horror, di e con Mastandrea. C’è delicatezza, molta tristezza nel parlare di morte in più sensi, e anche se non tutto torna proprio come si deve è un film che lascia una bella impronta. Bravo Valerione!

Il commento Seguito ideale di Escape from NY, è indubbiamente meno efficace, anche perché ne è una copia, con un budget un pochetto più espanso (anche se con gli inguardabili effetti digitali anni ‘90, je possino!). È interessante come l’atmosfera di LA sia riprodotta, così come lo era quella di NY, e inquietante il fatto che l’America teocratica con un presidente-re sia simile a quella odierna. A parte tutto questo, è comunque un film molto divertente e piacevole.

Il commento Assurdo, monumentale film su un sognatore in Amazzonia e la sua capacità di fallire con dignità. La cosa più notevole trovo che sia l’ambientazione: le facce perennemente lucide di sudore, l’onnipresenza dei fiumi, la sensazione di “frontiera” con le grandi opportunità e i grandi rischi che implica. A uno spettatore moderno poi colpisce che, anche se gli indios hanno una rivincita, sia un film assai colonialista. O forse lo è in modo ironico, o non ci si pensava. Chissà. La faccia stralunata di Kinski è perfetta, Claudia Cardinale angelica.

Il commento Epitomo della commedia high school anni ‘80, ho trovato in Pretty in pink elementi più interessanti delle vicende dell’antipaticissima protagonista e il suo prom. Innanzitutto, mi chiedo quanto sia sensata la suddivisione in “ricchi e poveri”, ma immaginandola come simbolica è affascinante nell’ottica dell’America reganiana. C’è poi Iona che è un tipo di personaggio, “la zia” (intesa come figura materna cool) che si vede molto raramente. Ma la verità è che il cuore del film è Duckie: nessuno si immedesima in Andie, la protagonista perfettina, ma tutti hanno a cuore le vicende di Duckie, il ragazzo con un sacco di qualità che non viene fatto entrare in discoteca e ha il cuore spezzato nonostante tutti i suoi sforzi. Siamo tutti Duckie.

Il commento Film davvero molto divertente, ha un inizio folgorante in cui è esattamente un Looney Tunes dal vivo e si ride davvero tanto. In seguito prende parzialmente altre direzioni, in particolare nella parte centrale è quasi una parodia di un videogioco gestionale, e nel finale è quasi un film d’azione. L’ho trovato un filino troppo lungo, ma è un peccato veniale per un film pressoché perfetto.
